Washington, D.C. - Aug. 1X, 2003 – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) announced today that Foliage Software Systems has agreed to create a toolkit that will help developers write code that conforms to Market Data Definition Language (MDDL).

“While the MDDL specification has advanced quickly, a developer toolkit has yet to be created,” says Mike Atkin, Vice President of the Financial Information Services Division, a division of SIIA. “The goal is to facilitate adoption of MDDL and make it easier for developers to write compliant code. Specifically, the toolkit will perform basic validation, make MDDL document manipulation easier, and provide a sample application.”

It will accelerate the acceptance of MDDL and help financial firms increase their operational efficiency in working with market data,” says Eric Livingston, Engineering Director at Foliage Software Systems.

MDDL is an XML specification designed specifically for financial services companies. The goal is to make it easier and less expensive for exchanges, vendors and financial firms to trade, analyze and account for various securities. FISD has worked with its members, at their request, to develop MDDL, which is being tested by many organizations. FISD recently announced the beta Version 2.2 of MDDL has been released.
